Roost Privacy Policy
Effective date: 4 October 2026 · Last updated: 4 October 2026
Roost is a guest house and hotel management app made by Meeri. This policy explains what Roost collects, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how you can delete it. We have tried to write it in plain words.
The short version
- Roost is for owners and managers of small properties. It keeps your bookings, rooms, guests, money and stock in one place.
- Your business data is yours. We store it to run the app. We never sell it and we never use it to choose ads.
- Roost does not take card or bank details. Money changes hands between you and your guest.
- You can delete your data or your whole account from inside the app. You have 30 days to change your mind.
Who we are
Meeri is the maker of Roost, run by an individual (sole proprietor) based in
Peshawar, Pakistan.

Two kinds of people in this policy
- You, the account holder — the owner who signs in and runs the property.
- Your guests — people staying with you. You enter their details into Roost. They do not use Roost themselves.
Information we collect
When you sign in
You sign in with your Google account. We receive from Google your name and email address, and your profile picture if it provides one. We never see your Google password.
About you and your property (you give us this)
- Your name, phone number, and whether you are an owner, manager or run a family business.
- Optional answers about how you found Roost and what you used before (for example a paper register). We use these only to understand and improve Roost.
- Your property's name, type, address, city, country, currency, phone and WhatsApp number, logo, and your receipt settings.
Your guests (you enter this)
To manage stays you may record, for each guest:
- Name, one or more phone numbers and email addresses, home address and city.
- National ID (CNIC) or passport number, ID type, nationality, gender and date of birth.
- Purpose of visit, vehicle number, and an emergency contact.
- A photo of the guest, a photo of their ID document, and a short video, if you choose to upload them.
- People travelling with the guest (name, relationship, ID number).
Meeri does not collect this from guests. You collect it, in the same way a front desk has always kept a paper register. See "Your responsibilities for guest data" below.
Your business records
- Rooms (numbers, types, prices, descriptions and photos).
- Bookings: dates, rooms, prices, discounts, notes.
- Services and extras you charge for (food, Wi-Fi, heater and so on) with your prices.
- Payments, as an amount and a method label such as "Cash". Roost does not process payments and never collects card numbers or bank accounts.
- Expenses (with an optional receipt photo), inventory, housekeeping notes, invoices and receipts you create.
- A short activity record of important actions (for example deleting a booking) with the time.
Information from your device
- A push notification token, so we can send you reminders such as arrivals and departures. Roost asks your permission for notifications only when you choose to turn reminders on, and you can turn them off in your phone settings.
- Reminders set on your phone. After you set up, Roost can schedule a gentle reminder on your phone to add your first booking. It is created and shown on the phone itself and is cancelled once you add a booking.
- Crash reports and general usage information (which screens and features are used, device model, Android version, app version). This tells us what is broken and what to improve. It includes simple steps such as finishing setup, adding a first booking, or the answer you choose to the question "What got in the way?" (never anything you type). It does not include the contents of your bookings or guests. You can turn this off in Settings → Data & privacy.
- Your advertising identifier and approximate location (country or city, from your IP address) — only when ads are shown. See "Advertising".
Information kept on your phone
So that Roost still works without internet, it keeps a copy of the data you have recently viewed, and a list of changes you made offline, in the app's private storage on your phone. The saved copy of your data is removed when you sign out. Changes made offline are sent to our servers when your phone is back online; until then they stay on the phone so they are not lost. Anyone who can unlock your phone and open Roost can see this data, so please protect your phone with a screen lock.
How we use information
- To run Roost: show your bookings, rooms, guests and money, create receipts and invoices, and keep your data separate from every other business.
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To send reminders and service messages you can switch off.
- To find and fix problems and to improve Roost.
- To show ads, if you use the free version (see below).
- To follow the law and protect against misuse.
We do not sell your information. Your guest records, bookings, payments and identity documents are never given to advertisers and are never used to decide which ads you see.
Who we share information with
We share information only with services that help us run Roost, under their terms, and only what they need:
- Supabase — our database, sign-in and file storage. Stores your data on our behalf, encrypted in transit.
- Google — Google sign-in, push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), crash reports and usage information (Firebase), and ads (AdMob) when ads are on.
- WhatsApp, email or other apps on your phone — only when you tap Share or Send, for example to send a guest a receipt or a room's details. Nothing is sent unless you do that.
- Receipt QR codes — every receipt Roost creates carries a QR code and a web address on meeri.dev. Anyone who scans or opens it, not only people you share it with, can check that one receipt. The page shows only the business name and city, the receipt number, the type, the date and the amount. It never shows a guest's name, phone number, ID, room or how they paid.
- The law — if we are legally required to give information to a court or authority.
Advertising
Roost is free. To keep it free, the free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. You can remove ads with an optional paid subscription, or switch ads off for 24 hours by choosing to watch one ad.
When ads are shown, AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier, device model and operating system, approximate location from your IP address, and which ads were shown or tapped.
Advertisers never receive anything from your business: no guest names, ID numbers, photos, bookings, payments or messages. Ads are chosen by Google from your device, never from anything you typed into Roost. We also choose conservative ad settings and block sensitive categories, because Roost is often open at a front desk where guests can see the screen.
Your choices about ads
- Where the law asks for it, we ask your permission first, and you can choose personalised or non-personalised ads. You can change this at any time in the app.
- You can reset or turn off your advertising identifier in your phone's settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
- Subscribing removes ads completely.
The ad-free subscription, and a desktop version (planned)
The ad-free subscription (monthly or yearly) is sold and paid for through Google Play; Meeri does not see or store your card details. Google Play tells the app whether your subscription is active, and the app keeps that fact on your phone. You manage or cancel it in Google Play.
We plan to offer a Roost desktop version that will also use a subscription. Before it starts we will update this policy and tell you in the app.
Guests you import
If you import guests from a spreadsheet, the file is read on your phone and each guest is saved to your account like any guest you add by hand. The file itself is not uploaded.
Your responsibilities for guest data
You decide what guest information to collect and why, so you are responsible for collecting it lawfully, telling your guests what you record, and keeping only what you need. Identity documents are especially sensitive. Meeri only stores this information securely on your behalf and uses it only to run Roost for you.
How long we keep information
- We keep your data for as long as your account exists, so you can keep using Roost.
- When you delete your account or erase your data, it is held for 30 days so you can undo it. In that time you can restore it from the app (sign in again and tap "Restore my account", or use "Restore erased data" in Settings → Data & privacy). After 30 days it is deleted for good. See Delete Your Account or Data.
- We also keep private safety copies of our database for up to 30 days to recover from a serious failure, after which they are destroyed. They are used only for that purpose.
- Crash and usage information is kept only as long as needed to improve the app.
Your choices and rights
- View and edit most of your information inside the app.
- Delete categories of data (bookings, guests, payments, expenses, inventory) without closing your account.
- Delete your account and everything in it.
- Turn off notifications in your phone settings; change ad choices in the app.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or for a correction, by emailing supportmeeri@gmail.com from the email on your account.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Each business can only ever reach its own data, enforced by the database itself. Nobody is perfect at security, so we cannot promise that nothing will ever go wrong, but we work to protect your information and to fix problems quickly. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored with our service providers, who may run servers in countries other than yours. By using Roost you understand your information may be processed in those places.
Children
Roost is for adults running a business. You must be 18 or older to use it. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 for their own account. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters (for example when ads, a subscription or the desktop version start), we will change the "Last updated" date and tell you in the app before it takes effect.
